This area known as Val di Sole , is noted for its beauty , blending open piste runs with tree-lined routes that provide an attractive variety of skiing . Most activity is centred on the Folgarida , Marilleva and Madonna di Campiglio areas and has appeals to all levels of ability . Being part of the Brenta Dolomites , this area has evolved as a charming chalet style region . The ski-pass covers the FOLGARIDA-MARILLEVA runs which includes over 40km of well prepared pistes ; the extensive interlinked system of Madonna di Campiglio is also available at a supplement . The varied nature of skiing has tremendous appeal to the beginner and intermediate skier and also presents additional challenges to the advanced .

Built approx. over 30 years ago , Piancavallo is rightly amongst the most suggestive and modern tourist and sports resort of the whole alpine arc . Piancavallo is the traditional seat for the races of the WORLD WOMEN'S SKI CUP . A varying carousel of slopes , ranging from very easy to very difficult , all linked together by 15 ski-lifts and two chair lifts . Various cross-country ski rings that are constantly & perfectly stamped down .Over sixty instructors ,including a large number of former Italian national team members offer a complete range of top quality services at all levels of ability . Also available in the centre is a covered ice rink , discos , bars , restaurants and well supplied shopping centre to complete this winter and summer village .

These centres are located in the upper Val Brembana , surrounded by the ridge of the Orbic Pre-Alps , where three skiing resorts San Simone , Foppolo and Carona offer approx. 80 km of well maintained runs , from the excellent nursery ski areas where beginners start out with highly recommended ski-schools to the superb area for intermediates and experienced skiers . Due to the short distances from Milan (110km) and Bergamo (60km) , this ensures a swift and easy transfer from both airports and has contributed to the recent development .

An Italian resort with great possibilities due to its altitude , compact lift system and well prepared runs . The resort is excellent for beginners and intermediates and enjoys a long ski season due to it being one of the highest resorts in Italy . The runs are all above the tree line and there is summer skiing on the glacier on the southside with its lifts from 2774 to 3060 mt. Althought he village is fairly compact , the resort has become a firm favourite , combining superb skiing with traditional Italian appeal .
