ROME & FLORENCE Scarica il PDF

Rome, the Eternal City, is above all a city of contrast, with cars racing in every direction around the former scene of gladiatorial shows. Think of the city in terms of three different areas; classical Rome with its ruins, Catholic Rome with the Vatican City and modern Rome. Familiar looking monuments are to be found in the “centre”, such as the Forum, the Pantheon, the Colosseum, the popular sights of the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps just a short walk away. Florence, with its countless museums, galleries, chapels and cloisters, houses some of the world’s most dazzling collections of Italian Renaissance paintings and sculptures which are masterpieces in their own right. Wander through this magnificent city, visit the Uffizi Gallery, stroll along the Ponte Vecchio where the craftsmen carry on their trade according to traditional methods.

ROME - the Eternal City - is  above all a city of contrast, but at the same time a city steeped in history and art and the modern capital of Italy. Ancient Rome: now dormant but creating an atmosphere that takes you back in time. See the Roman Forum, the sites where, according to ancient tradition, Romulus killed Remus. Walk the wooded Palatine Hill, once home of Cicero and Mark Antony, which overlooks the Colosseum where gladiators fought. A short drive away  is  the  Vatican  City.  Visit  the Sistine Chapel decorated by Michelangelo.

FLORENCE - is a thriving 20th century city but it has been able to retain the splendour of its Renaissance past. Between the 13th and the 16th century it became the centre of a most extraordinary blossoming of arts:  Giotto and Brunelleschi, Michelangelo, Botticelli and Donatello, all of them stayed and worked in Florence. Wander through this magnificent city, visit the Uffizi Gallery one of the finest art galleries in the world.
The city is also a paradise for shopping: stroll along Ponte Vecchio where the craftsmen carry on their trade according to traditional methods and  you will find typical Florentine crafts such as delicate lace, embroidery, jewellery and leather goods.

VENICE - a city alive with mystery and excitement. By the 14th century, Venice dominated the Adriatic Sea. That did not last but much of the city is a reminder of this past power, most notably the imposing Doges (Dukes) Palace. Next to the Palace and in the heart of Venice is St.Mark’s Square (said to be the most beautiful in Italy) which is dominated by the Basilica of St. Mark. The interior is finished in an incredible richness of marble, mosaics with a glittering gold background. These two buildings represent the melting of artistic styles which are evident in Venice - namely Byzantine, Gothic and Renaissance. The Grand Canal, the main road of Venice, is about two miles long and can be travelled by gondola or vaporetto. You will pass the Bridge of Sighs and Cà d’Oro, the most elegant palace in Venice.

Don't miss....your  journey into the Roman History!!! ...You will never forget!!

Rome grew to rule a vast empire and , as the empire began to divide, the region became the centre of Christian world.

Artists and architects flocked to work for the Popes and their families, notably in the Reinessance and Baroque periods when some magnificent architectural works were created. The legacy of this uniterrupted history can be seen all over the city and the sourrounding area.
